OPTIMAKELP relies on strong  integration of natural and social sciences as well as humanities. The project is led by the Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA) with close collaboration with six partners (see below). The researchers involved in the project come from disciplines including: marine biology, environmental economics, environmental law, geography, natural resource management, environmental history and spatial planning.
